Job Description:

Overall Responsibilities:

The Event Manager's primary responsibility is to produce financially and operationally successful events while meeting budgetary goals. The Events Manager works under the direction of the Special Events Director in creating and achieving the goals established for each event, while keeping with the organization's missions, values and vision. These events include, but are not limited to: galas, 5K walks/runs, black-tie cocktail affairs and other third-party fundraisers.

For each event, the Event Manager is responsible for developing new leads and sponsors, recruiting committee members, and planning and production, which result in raising funds. The Events Manager must coordinate elements of multiple events at one time. A successful candidate is responsible for building teamwork, must be detail-oriented, and able to multitask and delegate when possible.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills, including public relations and diplomacy
  • Willing and able to work additional hours at night and/or weekend
  • Strong organizational, time-management and negotiating skills
  • Schedule driven and detail oriented
  • Creative and self-motivated
  • Flexible with ability to travel up to 50%
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and AS400 database systems, plus Internet and social media proficiency required
  • Experience working with Greater Giving software strongly preferred
  • Sponsorship sales and major gifts experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and able to work well under pressure/tight deadlines
  • Skilled in prioritizing work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, public relations and event coordination with a successful track record in a wide spectrum of events
